Let's Talk Health: Cleanses

I am a big supporter of juice cleanses. Everyone needs to give their body a rest from all the hard work it does by breaking down and processing the food we eat on a day to day basis. A cleanse via juice allows your body to have less work to perform while pushing out the leftovers in your system, ewe. Plus you still get the benefit of consuming a ton of fruits and veggies. I always suggest starting off with a cleanse when implementing a change in diet/fitness. This will allow your body to get a jump start into a fresh new you. This will also allow you to prove to yourself that you CAN choose what you eat and when you eat it. Be careful in choosing your cleanse, don't go for something dramatic and watch for the sugar content. Even though the juice should only contain natural sugars from raws fruits, too much can cause a spike in blood sugar which is not good for your body. Plus, the point of a cleanse is to detox.
My favorite juice cleanse is by Suja.
Suja has a cleanse for beginners as well as experienced juicers and can be purchased at your neighborhood Whole Foods. These juices are a delicious and nutritious fresh start that resets and rejuvenates. The Fresh Start Cleanse consists of 6 daily juices, in which they are all super yummy and refreshing. These juices won't have you pinching your nose and drinking as fast as possible, you won't even realize it's just juice, so much flavor! Suja allows you to choose your cleanse length since you can purchase the bottles sans a juice package or pre-pay. For beginners a 3 day cleanse is a great start! The first day is the toughest, but YOU CAN DO IT! Remember to drink lots of water too!
I am starting my post holiday re-vamp and rejuvenate cleanse today. As an experienced juicer, I usually stretch my cleanse to 4 days. I only purchase two sets of juices because (the bottles contain 2 servings each) as it is difficult for me to consume 96 ounces of liquid per day. Also, the last bottle of juice for the night is thick and dessert like and must be consumed 3 hours before bed time. Since each bottle technically contains 2 servings, I drink half of each bottle each day. However, please note that Suja's instructions are to consume all 6 full bottles per day.

For this cleanse I have chosen the following juices (in order taken) for the next 4 days:
1. Glow
2. Purify
3. Spark (*New)
4. Fuel
5. Twelve Essentials
6. Vanilla Cloud
Let the cleansing BEGIN!!!! I absolutley love these juices, and always grab or make one when on the go for the perfect fresh pick me up. Plus, they tell you exactly what is in each bottle, so if you have a juicer you can make your own. I often make these juices when I have time and this allows me to drink them during the week. If you dont, run over to any Whole Foods and give them a try!

I love these colorful juices so much I thought I'd also bring some color to this cold and drury Texas day!

Loving jewel tones this winter!

Last note: Suja has come out with mutiple lines of yummy juices, such as its Essentials and Elements lines, but these have a ton of sugar in them, so I am not a fan. Below you will find my healthier choice Suja alternatives!
