Feeling bogged down and unmotivated?

It happens. Probably much more than a lot of us want, but hey life gets in the way, we are all human, and we get in slumps. Staying on track even in the midst of everyday life is much easier than some tend to think. No, it’s not completely effortless. No, it won't "just happen". You still have to put in the work and be dedicated to the lifestyle you choose. It won’t happen overnight, but once it becomes routine, it will come naturally, and will be just one more thing you don't think about but do.

I am a firm believer in "Healthy is Happy" and that it can be achieved with 4 little steps!

#1 Get Pumped...Small simple tricks to get motivated and stay that way

- Set a Goal (sign up for a fun run with a friend, a dance class, a competition, etc. with an end goal in mind and work for it)

- Get Rewarded (Give yourself a post workout treat, such as a nice bubble bath with some you time) * and no, this doesn't mean get rewarded with a box of cookies!

- Set the Alarm (no matter what time you choose to get your workout on, set your alarm to some fun music)

- Get “Pinterst-ed” (feeling blah or unmotivated, get on Pinterest and search fun workouts, jams, or fitness quotes to get the ball rolling)

#2 Baby Steps... Small steps lead to big steps

- Walk more (use the elevator less)

- Check out (put away all devices an hour before bed, this allows for a more somber sleep)

- Tea time (enjoy a cup of hot detox or chamomile tea before bed)

- Snacks! ( pack your own snacks for the office, road trip, flight, etc.)

- Pamper yourself (de-stress with a mani/pedi, hot bath, or massage)

#3 Break a Sweat...Set goals and get results

- If you don’t have time to get into a gym, try my at home workouts, no equipment needed

- Go for a run (local high schools have open tracks and bleachers, get it!)

- Try a spin class (most gyms offer these free as part of your membership, talk about sweating!)

- Get to the gym and tune everything out, except your jams of course

#4 Stay on Track...Always make healthier choices, even when they are splurges.

- When you want cookies, only have one

- When you want pizza, choose thin crust with veggies

- When you want a burger, order a turkey or chicken burger instead

- Opt for tea or water instead of that lunchtime soda

- Meal prep for the week and plan less on the weekends (*no, this doesn’t mean go all out)

You all get my drift. Give yourself a goal, get pumped about it, de-stress, and start making healthier choices when it comes to what you fuel your body with. I promise you will see a difference and feel so much better at the end of the day!

Beginning a healthier lifestyle starts with the desire to do so of course, but doesn't have to be drastic. Start slow, make small changes, and then once you have that down, create new and different goals. It’s a process, stay positive, and trust yourself! You've got this!
