Much like your wardrobe, sometimes the way you nourish your body needs a little "revamping". I'm always up for something new and fresh when it comes to food and enabling a healthy lifestyle. If you are anything like me, you seriously lack the desire to hydrate and nourish your body with the one thing it needs the most... WATER!
Water is so blah, so bland, just that...water. I decided it was necessary to start consuming a lot more water, not only for my well-being, but also to help me obtain those summer goals. So I devised a yummy plan to help me do just that! What better way to get your day going than with some COLOR!
My current goal is to consume 67 ounces a day, or 2 Smart Waters (which is appropriate according to my weight). There is a neat website that gives you this information; I have included the web address for you below:

My morning water regimen:
1 Smart Water 33.8 oz
1 Half Grapefruit
10 Mint Leaves
I simply squeeze the grapefruit juice into a bowl and muddle it with the mint leaves, then pour it into my water bottle. I let this sit overnight in the fridge and then voila, I have amazing water to drink during the first half of my day! Not only is it refreshing but has additional added health benefits, I mean who doesn't like a 2 for 1 !?!
Health Benefits of Grapefruit:
Strengthens Immune System. It is well known any fruit rich in vitamin C will strengthen and support our immune system. Maintaining good levels of vitamin C in the body can reduce the severity of cold symptoms, acting as a natural antihistamine.
Boosts Metabolism. The copious amount of enzymes, high-water content and less sodium helps burn fat easily.
Reduces Kidney Stones Risk.
Fights Gum Disease. Vitamin C is essential for healthy gums, which helps keep our teeth firmly in place.
Reduces Stress. The smell of citrus fruit can make a difference on curbing our stress and anxiety levels, and depression.
Health Benefits of Mint:
Digestion. Mint promotes digestion. It also soothes stomachs in cases of indigestion or inflammation.
Respiratory Disorders and Coughs. The strong aroma of mint is very effective in clearing up congestion of the nose, throat, bronchi and lungs, which gives relief for respiratory disorders.
Depression and Fatigue. Mint is a natural stimulant, and the smell alone can be enough to charge your batteries and get your brain functioning on a high level again.
Memory Loss. A recent study explored the effects that mint has on alertness, retention, and cognitive function.
Oral Care. Since it has germicidal qualities and quickly freshens breath, it adds to oral health by inhibiting harmful bacterial growth inside the mouth.
HAPPY HYDRATING!
