ACAI, ACAI, ACAI!!!! It's the "thing".....
I have been adding Acai juice to my smoothies for a while, but now people are eating it in bowls! Yes, bowls! If you can drink it, you can eat it with a spoon, right!?! Acai bowls are popping up all over the place, so I decided to master the art of creating my own. Did you know Acai has ZERO sugar! Win!
When becoming obsessed with these bowls, as I have, don't be blinded (by the light). Most places add in tons of extra sugars as toppings which totally defeats the purpose.
So why is Acai so great you ask?
The health benefits of the Acai berry:
1. Heart Health
2. Resistant to Harmful Organisms
3. Aids in Weight Loss
4. Promotes Skin Health
5. Helps Digestion
6. Reduces Irritation
7. Improved Cellular Health
8. Immune Booster
9. Anti-Aging Effects
10. Energy Boost
Sounds good, to me!
Here is my favorite bowl, sure it has some natural added sugars, but nothing crazy!
Ingredients:
1 Pkg. Frozen Sambazon Acai Pack
1 Banana
4-5 Small Strawberries
2 Pinch Sliced Almonds
2 Pinch Totasted Coconut
1 Kiwi
Dash of Almond milk

1. You can find the Acai frozen packs here... http://www.sambazon.com/products/#aa-berry-superfruit-pack-pure-unsweetened... I buy them at Whole Foods.
2. Set out your Acai pack for about 5 minutes so it can thaw a bit, cut off top, break apart into chucks as you place in blender ( I use a Magic Bullet).
3. Add your banana (in chunks), strawberries, pinch of almonds, pinch of toasted coconut, and a small dash of almond milk.
3. BLEND!!!!
- you may have to stir or shake a few times to make sure the chunks of Acai are blended well.
3. Slice your kiwi
4. Pour your mixture into a bowl, top with another pinch of sliced almonds and coconut flakes, and add yout kiwi.... Voila!
* You can make this into a smoothie by adding only half the banana and more almond milk!
Enjoy!
